I get email and it’s good

You know I think you showed me the website Feministing.com.  I read it about every day and know more about rape-culture than my thesis research.

The person who emailed this to me was a colleague I worked with 5 years ago. I don’t think he would have called himself a feminist when we met.

Feminists writing blogs is kind of a big deal. I know they changed my life for the better.

I agree. For various reasons I don’t visit as much as I used to, but for nearly a decade I probably spent more than 30% of my internet time on feminist sites.

And I spend a lot of time on the internet, so that is indeed quite a bit of time. 🙂

I feel like I learned more that is relevant to the world and our relationship to it than in any other venue. Books, though I’d read many feminist ones in the previous two decades, just didn’t have the same breadth and immediacy. And best of all the sites were undiluted by publishers, editors, or the media.

You introduced me to feministing and a few other blogs when I was an impressionable teenager and terrible person, and it ended up being one of the most important events in my growing up and development as an adult. So thanks for that. I’m really worried about the person I would be today if you hadn’t been there at the right moment.
